There is always a need for new and fresh ideas for the teaching and learning of English Language. From many years of classroom teaching, I have developed this programme which is now used widely in schools by both English Language Learners (EAL students) and native speakers who need extra literacy support.
This comprehensive programme is comprised of 16 different books, namely Words Books 1 to 8 and the complementary series Assess Words Books 1 to 8. Both series support each other and can be used independently.
In both series, Books 1 and 2 cover the first 1,000 essential words, Books 3 & 4 cover the second 1,000 words, Books 5 & 6 cover the third 1,000 words and Books 7 & 8 cover the Academic Wordlist. These wordlists are used in many English-speaking countries.
Why two different series? As you may be aware, students need to see a new word at least 12 times before they can use it successfully and make it their own. Hence, seeing the key words repeated in different contexts will aid in their language development.
